Celebration! 1st Anniversary DataCite

DataCite is founded to establish easier access to scientific research data on the Internet, e.G. by assigning 'permanent links' (DOIs) to data sets. TUDelft Library is one of the founders of DataCite.

Wednesday December 1st, it's the first anniversary of DataCite. The international consortium will celebrate this event with a assemblee in London.

As 3TU.Datacentrum, we will have our own little celebration with the festive 'distribution' of a DOI to the data set IDRA of Tobias Otto and Herman Russchenberg (Remote Sensing department, EWI, TU Delft).

Thanks to this permanent link (DOI) the data set IDRA is much easier to find on the digital highway, which increases it's citability.

Next to establishing easier access to scientific research data, DataCite hopes to increase acceptance of research data as legitimate, citable contributions to the scientific record, and to support data archiving that will permit results to be verified and re-purposed for future study.

One of the data archives supported is the 3TU.Datacentrum.
