DOI services
The Library’s DOI Services general purpose is to facilitate recognition of digital content such as dissertations, reports, publications, and especially digital datasets, as unique citable units by assigning Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to them.
Who can register a DOI?
Registration of DOIs is a service of TU Delft Library for anyone, including external partners, who wishes to link an identifier to a digital object. Library DOI Services will accelerate linking, sharing and protection of research assets of individual researchers as well as global cooperation of research organizations. Organizations wishing to register a DOI are advised to contact customer service at library@tudelft.nl. Individual users associated with a registered organization can make use of a registration form. DOI Services of TU Delft Libray holds no full text or data content, but rather provides linkages through DOIs, which are tagged to metadata supplied by the data producers. The end result is an efficient, scalable linking system through which a researcher can click on a reference citation in a journal and access the cited data set.
TU Delft Library, a partner of DataCite
TU Delft Library is a regional office for the Netherlands and a founding member of DataCite, an international consortium and a global registration agency for research data. The Library and the agency aim to support researchers by improving access to research data and to increase acceptance of the research data as legitimate, citable contributions to scientific record through trustworthy registration and identification of datasets. The consortium DataCite was founded in December 2009 and comprises members from different countries. Over 800.000 records have been registered with DOIs so far. The focus of Library DOI Services initially goes to promoting the use of digital object identifiers for datasets.
The TU Delft Library is the hub of knowledge for technical and scientific information and the biggest technical-scientific library in the Netherlands. It supports research and education within TU Delft and at the national level. It focuses on digital services in the field of technical science information.
